What I’m Working On

Guess What I Forgot To Do!

Hello Friends! I forgot to post my Christmas Greetings to you before I left on our whirlwind holiday extravaganza. So pretend it’s 2.5 weeks ago:

And no, my kitchen doesn’t look like that. But my three year old does.

Since we’ve gotten back from our Holiday Travels, I’ve been working non-stop. I finished three projects this week! Dude! But luckily I’ve really liked everything I’ve been working on. I did a baby announcement for the CUTEST little guy:

So fun! Then I finished an early reader about a poor socially rejected cactus…

..who later learns that you need to bloom where you’re planted. Awwwww…

I’ve got about four different book ideas floating around in my head, plus another three projects I’ve been neglecting, so I’m excited to now have a few hours to work on them.

What are you working on? I want to hear about it!!!

  1. The Christmas card was great this year – really love your work! Did Colby eat the cookie in the pic?

  2. i kinda like this whole socially retarted cactus…he’s cute :)

  3. I have been admiring your website and blog. I think your mom is in my mom’s ward, Meadowview. My name is Allison Brown, and my mom is Lenora Geyer.
I am really trying to get started with a career in illustration. I also studied illustration anf graphic design at BYU from 99-01. I left to get married after three years. Since, I have had four kids pretty close together. I have been doing small time freelance work, but minimal. I am trying to finish a children’s book and send it to publisher’s this month. But to be honest, I feel completely lost. I want so badly to get integrated into the working world while still staying home with kids but have no idea how. How much do I need to invest to get started. What do I do to get my name out there and picked up? I’m trying to get my husband to help start a website as my online portfolio. Our technology at our house is weak here at our home, and after my old mac died, we haven’t had the resources to get updated equipment. So here I am, staring through the window determined to find the door into an exciting career. Can you help me? I would love a mentor of sorts. Hopefully soon I’ll have some sort of online access to my art.
I really admire the personality you have captured in your characters. I’m still trying to find my identity. I just don’t get a lot of time to practice. Mainly at nights while my 7, 5, 3 and 1 year old are sleeping.
Thank you, hope to hear from you soon.
